Shenzhen bunker sales to rise by 1.85m tonnes


Bonded bunker sales at Shenzhen port are forecast to increase by up to 1.85 million tonnes by 2015.

Bonded bunker sales at Shenzhen port are expected to rise to 3.5 - 4.0 million metric tonnes by 2015, according to the deputy director of Shenzhen's Transport Committee.

Speaking at a fuel oil forum in Hong Kong, deputy director Ma Yongzhi forecast the output of Shenzhen's three licensed bonded bunker traders - Brightoil, Chimbusco Shenzhen and SinoBunker Shenzhen - to rise by between 1.35 - 1.85 million metric tonnes, or 63% - 86%, within the next four years.

According to Ma, Brightoil's bunker sales volumes will be the largest at 2.5 million metric tonnes per year by 2015. Annual bunker sales for Chimbusco Shenzhen are estimated to reach 1 million tonnes with SinoBunker Shenzhen forecast to sell 500,000 metric tonnes per year at the Guangdong Province port.

In 2010, the three companies imported a total of 2.14 million metric tonnes of bonded bunker fuel and recorded a combined sales total of 2.15 million metric tonnes, said Ma.

Ma also predicted container throughput at Shenzhen port will reach 28 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) by 2015.
