The Bunker Index (BIX) global monthly average rose to its highest level since December in March, according to Bunker Index price data.

The worldwide bunker average increased by $13.26, or 3.9 percent, to $352.05 per tonne last month, up from $338.79 per tonne in February. It is the highest price level in three months.

The month-on-month increase is the first in 10 months - since the $30.94 jump recorded in May 2015.

In comparison with previous years, the March 2016 average is $160.70 lower than the $512.75 price recorded in March 2015, and $440.76 below the $792.81 figure seen in March 2014.
