Bunkers International expands US barge fleet

The addition of the AGB EllaC and the AGB-JPC brings the company's vessel fleet to five.

Bunkers International Corporation has announced the expansion of its US-based barge fleet. The company will be adding both the 17,000- barrel (bbl) double hull AGB EllaC and the 10,000 bbl double hull AGB-JPC to its existing fleet of one 18,000 bbl and two 10,000 bbl barges.

Commenting on the news, John Canal, chief executive officer (CEO) of Bunkers International, said: "The addition of these two barges will enable our physical supply company – Atlantic Gulf Bunkering – to better meet the needs of our growing customer base in our existing ports and permit the expansion of service to several other ports that we are considering."

Bunkers International, an established physical supplier in Colombia, last year expanded its coverage in the Americas market with the launch of a new operation in the United States under the company name Atlantic Gulf Bunkering LLC.

Atlantic Gulf Bunkering carries out marine fuel deliveries in the primary ports of Mobile, Gulfport, Pascagoula, Pensacola, and Panama City Beach, Florida via barge, as well as providing high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), low sulphur fuel oil (LSFO), and marine gas oil (MGO) by truck throughout the Atlantic Gulf region from Texas, throughout Florida, and into North and South Carolina.
