Titan LNG performs first simultaneous two-truck delivery in Rotterdam

Downtime of the vessel, Wes Amelie, was reduced as two trucks discharged via one bunkering hose.

Titan LNG reports that last week it performed its first 'fast bunkering' procedure in Rotterdam by discharging LNG simultaneously via two trucks.

On October 27, the bunker firm supplied the Wessels Reederei-operated Wes Amelie with six truckloads of LNG in total, with the simultaneous operation reducing the overall time of the delivery - and downtime of the vessel.

Approval for the delivery in Prins Willem Alexanderhaven was obtained after discussions with stakeholders under the supervision of the Port of Rotterdam.

Titan LNG says that during the discussions, it successfully illustrated its ability to safely - and with zero-venting of methane - deliver the LNG using a transfer system that enables two trucks to discharge via one bunkering hose.

Michael Schaap, Commercial Director Marine, commented: "We are aiming to use this perfect spot more frequently for bunkering sea going vessels as the quay is suitable and well located for this activity and has sufficient draft."

Earlier this year, Bunker Index reported that Titan LNG managed to double the speed of its LNG bunkering deliveries in Amsterdam using a piece of equipment called the T-piece, which combines the flow of fuel from two trucks into one bunkering hose.
