Bunker prices up 5% since Christmas Eve


Average global bunker price jumps $37.87 during a period of seven successive price increases.



Bunker prices around the world have risen by over 5 percent since Christmas Eve, according to data taken from Bunker Index's average global bunker price.

An analysis of the Bunker Index (BIX) since December 24th shows that bunker prices have on average increased by $28.62 from $548.67 per tonne to $577.29 per tonne, representing a rise of 5.2 percent in just six days.

In total, the BIX has jumped $37.87 per tonne, or 7.0 percent, during a period of seven successive price increases since December 23rd.

During the same period, WTI Crude has risen 4.8 percent, or $3.72 per barrel, since Christmas Eve, 6.7 percent, or $5.10 per barrel , since December 23rd and 9.9 percent, or $7.37 per barrel, since the sequence of price rises began on December 22nd.
