Spill recovery vessel presentation announced

Vessel able to collect hydrocarbons at a rate of 100m3 per hour to be presented at UK seminar.

Ecoceane will be presenting the CATAMAR at the UKSPILL09 Marine Oil Spill Seminar in Southampton on October 28 and 29. The vessel is able to collect hydrocarbons at a rate of 100m 3 per hour at sea without forming emulsions. A demonstration has been planned for October 29 at Oil Spill Response Ltd (12:30-15:30).

About CATAMAR

The innovative CATAMAR design makes it possible to collect 100m3/hour of hydrocarbons without forming emulsions. The hydrocarbons can be transferred as they are collected to a bunker barge (1,000 to 8,000 m3). CATAMAR works over a width of 6m up to and including Force 4, and cleans up an area of 40,000m2/hour. At Force 5 and 6, CATAMAR works over a width of 3m and cleans up 20,000m2/hour. Oil detecting radar makes it possible to work 24 hours a day and to collect 2,000 m3/day.

Launched in April 2009 by its sponsor Maud Fontenoy, Vice-President of "Conservatoire du Littoral", in the presence of a delegation from the French Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and of the Sea, and a delegation from the Presidency of the French Republic, the CATAMAR was presented in June 2009 to the French Minister for Transport, Mr Dominique Bussereau, during a private demonstration on "Ocean Day" on the fringe of the "Grenelle de la Mer" (multi-party meeting) organized by the French Ministry of Ecology.

"Catamar can be integrated into operational plans to combat major catastrophes as well as be kept on standby at oil and gas rigs. With this vessel, SOSREP and related services would have the means available to intervene efficiently for the protection of the sea, shorelines and ports from liquid and solid waste", said Barrie Dannenberg, Director of IAC Ltd, the UK Representative of Ecoceane.

IAC has been offering the Ecoceane range of vessels in the UK for the last two years. In view of the increasing sensitivity of port and harbour areas and the rising number of marinas, the Ecoceane range offers vessels able to efficiently maintain clean water in these areas, keeping them clear of both solid waste and cleaning up spills. IAC wants to impress on both the local authorities and spill response companies the unique effectiveness of the Ecoceane vessels. This was demonstrated at the Tall Ships event in Liverpool earlier this year.

Ecoceane designs and markets a range of vessels for the collecting of hydrocarbons at sea, along shorelines and in ports. The French builder of vessels for collecting hydrocarbons has already sold 50 Cataglop boats throughout the world, including a Cataglop XLD to the Shannon Estuary Anti-Pollution Team at Foynes (County Limerick), Ireland.
