Rotterdam Shore Power has announced a partnership with Dynamic People B.V., an Amsterdam-based technology consultancy, to digitalise its organisation and project operations through an integrated Microsoft platform.
According to Rotterdam Shore Power, the collaboration will support its financial, operational and commercial processes as it continues to develop and operate large-scale shore power facilities at the Port of Rotterdam.
The company said the decision to build on a Microsoft platform reflects the need for a solid digital foundation alongside the technical requirements of delivering shore power infrastructure. Shore power — also known as cold ironing — allows vessels berthed at port to connect to the local electricity grid, reducing the need to run auxiliary engines and thereby cutting emissions and noise pollution.
Tiemo Arkesteijn, director at Rotterdam Shore Power, said: "Our partnership with Dynamic People will help us further professionalise our organisation and support our growth ambitions. With a strong digital foundation, we can focus on what ultimately matters most: developing and operating reliable shore power facilities that contribute to reducing emissions and noise in the Port of Rotterdam."
Rotterdam Shore Power described the partnership as being built on a pragmatic approach and short lines of communication, as well as a shared ambition to use technology to create tangible impact.
As previously reported, Rotterdam Shore Power recently signed a cooperation agreement with Rotterdam Shortsea Terminals (RST) for the development of shore power at the RST terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, with the aim of supplying electricity to vessels at berth from 2030 onwards.
