Koch Minerals & Trading (KM&T), the commodity procurement and trading arm of the Koch group of companies, is seeking a bunker procurement intern to be based in Singapore, according to a job listing posted on LinkedIn.

The role, which sits within KM&T’s shipping operations and commodity trading team, is described as offering hands-on experience across bunker fuel management, market analysis, contract negotiation and post-bunkering operations, working directly with a team said to include freight traders and operations professionals — several of whom are former ship captains.

The intern would work under the mentorship of the company’s senior bunker procurement coordinator and be expected to develop familiarity with different grades of marine fuel — including fuel oil, gas oil and LNG — and their respective pricing mechanisms, as well as port-specific bunkering requirements. Responsibilities include negotiating and executing bunker orders, reviewing general terms and conditions of contracts, managing invoicing and settlement, resolving claims and disputes, and monitoring the impact of new marine fuel legislation and specifications.

KM&T notes that the role also involves conducting market dynamics and trend analyses to support bunker planning, as well as sourcing and evaluating new bunker suppliers and traders.

The company is looking for candidates with strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity and an interest in maritime fuel and trading markets. Prior exposure to maritime operations, fuel markets or commodity trading is listed as an advantage, along with an analytical mindset, negotiation experience and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
