Corvus Energy has entered into a strategic partnership with Brazilian maritime service provider Belga Marine to deliver localised aftermarket support, spare parts storage, and technical services for battery-powered offshore support vessels (OSVs) operating in Brazil.

The agreement, announced on 17 August, is intended to strengthen on-the-ground service capabilities for the growing number of hybrid and battery-enabled OSVs in Brazilian waters, where Corvus Energy systems are already deployed across several vessels.

Brazil’s OSV fleet has grown to nearly 500 vessels currently in operation, according to Corvus, with state energy company Petrobras projected to bring more than 40 new ships into service from 2027 onwards. The country is also expanding its offshore energy activities, including deepwater and ultra-deepwater exploration along the equatorial margin.

Corvus Energy notes that hundreds of OSVs worldwide rely on its energy storage systems, and that more than 50% of vessels globally equipped with zero-emission technology use its systems. The Norway-headquartered company says it has delivered more than 1,350 projects worldwide.

Belga Marine, founded in 1981 and based in Brazil, provides aftermarket maintenance and repair services for maritime and offshore equipment. The company holds registrations with classification societies ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV, and Lloyd’s Register, and specialises in naval electronics, telecommunications, navigation, and automation.

Tor-Gunnar Hovig, Head of Region, Americas, for Corvus Energy, stated: “As the adoption of battery technology accelerates in Brazil’s offshore sector, reliable local support becomes increasingly important. Through our partnership with Belga Marine, we can combine strong regional service capabilities with Corvus Energy’s global expertise, digital monitoring solutions, predictive analytics, and technical support network. Together, we are ensuring customers receive the support they need throughout the entire lifecycle of their systems.”

Belga Marine Technical Manager Ari Claudio commented: “Belga Marine has a longstanding track record in providing specialised maintenance solutions for advanced marine technologies in Brazil, and we are pleased to expand this service to include marine battery systems by partnering with Corvus Energy.”

Under the arrangement, Belga Marine will act as Corvus Energy’s aftermarket service partner for the marine and offshore sector in Brazil, providing local technical support backed by Corvus Energy’s global monitoring and analytics capabilities.
