Turkon Line’s new container ship, Kaşif Kalkavan, has made its first port call at Marport, one of Türkiye’s largest container terminals, marking the arrival of what is said to be the first and largest LNG-fuelled container ship built in Türkiye.

The vessel, which has a carrying capacity of 4,000 TEU, is designed to operate on five different fuels and was built with 100% Turkish capital and engineering, according to Arkas Holding, owner of Marport. A ceremony was held to mark the occasion, attended by Nevzat Kalkavan, Chairman of the Board of Turkon Holding, O. Alkın Kalkavan, CEO of Turkon Line, and executives from both Turkon Line and Marport.

Marport Terminal Operators S.A. is one of Türkiye’s leading container terminals, located in the Ambarlı port complex on the European side of Istanbul and jointly owned by Arkas Holding and Terminal Investment Limited (TIL). With a yard and berth capacity designed to support deep‑sea services, Marport has grown since its founding in 2001 into a key hub for Black Sea–Mediterranean and global trades, handling well over 1 million TEU per year.
