Ardmore Shipping has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining a range of environmental, operational and governance outcomes across its fleet during the year, including a 14% reduction in fleet emissions equivalent to more than 60,000 tonnes of CO₂ compared with the previous year.

The report, released on 15 July, covers Ardmore’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and details the technologies and operational initiatives the company says drove those results.

According to Ardmore, the emissions reduction was achieved through a combination of hull performance optimisation, the installation of Mewis Ducts, SteelCorr hull protection, advanced hull cleaning programmes and the expansion of AI-based voyage optimisation tools developed in partnership with DeepSea. The company says it continued rolling out DeepSea’s Neuro hardware platform during 2025, enabling what it describes as increasingly precise weather routing and fuel management.

Ardmore also completed MarineLine cargo tank coating upgrades across its chemical tanker fleet during the year. The company says the upgraded coating improves cargo flexibility while reducing tank cleaning requirements, chemical and water consumption, and turnaround times. It adds that the coating enables the carriage of biofuel feedstocks, renewable fuels and methanol.

CEO Gernot Ruppelt and President Bart Kelleher said in a joint statement: “Our energy efficiency upgrades remain the cornerstone of our sustainability strategy. The full implementation of FuelEU Maritime marked a step-change in the regulatory environment, but our long-standing commitment to operational efficiency means we are well ahead of the compliance curve. We believe companies that have invested consistently in this area will be best positioned to create value as regulations continue to evolve.”

On safety, Ardmore recorded zero vessel detentions during 2025, with 81% of port state control inspections resulting in zero findings. Three vessels in the fleet reached 10 consecutive years without a lost-time injury.

The company also states that, during 2025, every member of its shore-based team visited an Ardmore vessel — an initiative it links to improving engagement between office and seafaring staff.

Ardmore continued its partnership with The Mission to Seafarers and its Ardmore Bursary Cadet Programme, and says it rolled out hydroponic growing systems on board vessels to support crew wellbeing.

On governance, Ardmore notes that it was ranked the number one publicly traded tanker company in the Webber Corporate Governance Scorecard for 2025, a ranking it says reflects its approach to transparency and accountability.

Ruppelt and Kelleher added: “As we look ahead, Ardmore remains steadfast in its mission to advance performance and progress through sustainable practices. We look forward to embracing further opportunities to innovate and evolve, and we thank our seafarers, shore staff and all our valued stakeholders for their continued dedication and support.”
