Bunker One has announced the positioning of a dedicated supply barge at Port of Aberdeen’s South Harbour, with operations set to commence in July 2026, as the company continues to expand its physical supply network.
The barge will provide marine gas oil (MGO) with 0.1% sulphur content, along with bio blends ranging from B1 to B100, delivered directly within the harbour. According to Bunker One, the move is intended to enhance security of supply, increase operational flexibility and provide a more responsive service for customers operating in the area.
"This investment forms part of our ongoing strategy to strengthen physical supply capabilities across key locations and ensure dependable fuel availability where it matters most," Bunker One added.
Aberdeen South Harbour is a £420 million deep‑water expansion of the Port of Aberdeen, completed in August 2023 and regarded as the largest marine infrastructure project in UK Trust Port history. Developed on a greenfield site at Nigg Bay, it adds around 1.5–1.7 kilometres of new quay and up to 14–15 metres water depth, enabling the port to accommodate vessels up to about 300 metres in length that previously bypassed the city for continental ports.
With extensive laydown areas, heavy‑lift capability and modern marine infrastructure, South Harbour is designed as a multi‑sector hub, supporting offshore oil and gas, floating offshore wind, decommissioning projects, cargo, and a growing cruise market across the North Sea region.
Enquiries for supply at Aberdeen South Harbour should be made to Bunker One’s UK sales team at salesUK@bunkerone.com.
