The first vessel in an eight-ship series of 38,000 DWT stainless steel chemical parcel tankers ordered by NYK Stolt Tankers (NST) has been launched at Nantong Xiangyu Shipyard in China, according to naval architecture and marine engineering firm FKAB.
The vessel is based on FKAB’s T72 design and has been developed for the transportation of chemical and oil products. It features 30 cargo tank segregations, FKAB’s patented F-Bow hull design and a propulsion arrangement that, according to FKAB, is optimised to minimise fuel consumption and emissions.
The tanker complies with IMO Tier III requirements and is equipped with a shore power connection. It has also been prepared for future conversion to methanol fuel and integration of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) battery systems, FKAB noted.
Deliveries across the eight-vessel series are scheduled between 2026 and 2029.
