Bunker supplier and trader Peninsula is recruiting a junior cargo trader to be based in Dubai, according to a job listing published on LinkedIn.
The role sits within Peninsula's supply and trading department and is focused on the procurement of marine fuels, blending components and associated products. According to the listing, the position is intended to help maintain competitive supply across the company's regional physical ports, while maximising the value of its assets.
The job description states that the role would suit a candidate with previous experience in physical trading, ideally within residual and distillate fuels.
Key responsibilities outlined in the listing include building and maintaining relationships with suppliers — including major oil companies, refiners and trading houses — as well as procuring marine fuels and blending components for regional ports. The successful candidate will also be expected to coordinate with Peninsula's operations, chartering and hedging teams, and to work within the company's risk management framework.
The listing also calls for the trader to use Peninsula's internal MINT platform alongside local market intelligence to monitor competitor and supplier supply flows, and to proactively manage counterparty risk in conjunction with the company's supplier credit team.
In terms of required knowledge, the listing specifies familiarity with residual and distillate fuel pools, feedstocks, blending parameters and testing procedures, as well as knowledge of ISO 8210 specifications.
