Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings has commenced construction of its third dual-fuel LNG carrier with a steel-cutting ceremony at Dalian Shipyard in China.

The vessel, designated G175K-14, will have a capacity of 175,000 cbm and forms part of the Hong Kong-based shipowner's expanding LNG fleet.

The ceremony, held last week, was attended by representatives from multiple organisations involved in the project. Attendees included Hare Ram Sah, general manager of Venture Marine Services Limited, and Betty Cheng and Capt. Yang Yunpeng, both deputy general managers for newbuilding at Wah Kwong.

The Venture Marine Services site supervision team was present alongside representatives from Dalian Shipyard, Chinagas, CSSC Leasing, MISC Group and Lloyd's Register.

As previously reported, Wah Kwong recently took delivery of the LNG-ready LR2 tanker Frontier Venture. The ship is powered by an Everllence B&W main engine rated at 10,800 kW SMCR and is said to meet EEDI Phase III requirements.

The second LR2 in a series under construction at Hengli Shipyard is expected to be delivered in July 2026.
