The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has renewed its Green and Digital Shipping Corridor memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach for another three years, the authority announced at the start of Singapore Maritime Week 2026.

The MoU, first established in 2023 with support from C40 Cities, is intended to advance decarbonisation and digitalisation along the Trans-Pacific route, one of the world’s busiest container trade lanes.

MPA said progress since the corridor’s launch has included the completion of a baseline study in 2024, the onboarding of industry partners for pilot trials, and the establishment of workstreams covering alternative fuels, digitalisation, and energy efficiency.

All three ports have also taken steps to advance alternative fuels bunkering capabilities. MPA has completed methanol bunkering trials and awarded three methanol bunkering supply licences, while the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have commissioned a Clean Fuels Study and are preparing for a methanol pilot in 2026.

Additionally, the partners have conducted port-to-port data exchange testing and initiated pilot collaborations with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.

Under the renewed MoU, the three ports will continue to focus on deploying low- and zero-emission fuels and digital solutions, strengthening port-to-port data connectivity, and promoting interoperability, cybersecurity and common standards.

The agreement was signed ahead of Singapore Maritime Week 2026 by Wee Keong Ang, chief executive of MPA, Eugene Seroka, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, and Noel Hacegaba, chief executive officer of the Port of Long Beach.

MPA said the renewal is also intended to support stronger supply chain resilience and energy security along the route.
