The Global Ethanol Association will present on ethanol’s potential as a marine fuel at the Future Proofing Shipping Expo in London on 18 June.

Morten Thomas Jacobsen, the association’s secretary general and co-founder, is scheduled to lead a breakout session focused on recent developments in ethanol fuel trials and studies in the shipping sector.

Ethanol has emerged as one of several alternative fuels being evaluated by the maritime industry as it seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet regulatory requirements for cleaner operations.

According to the association, the session will examine the role ethanol could play in accelerating maritime decarbonisation, drawing on both real-world applications and the key challenges still facing wider adoption.

The presentation is intended to provide industry participants with a clearer view of how ethanol may contribute to the shift towards cleaner fuels in shipping.

The Future Proofing Shipping Expo brings together maritime stakeholders to discuss alternative fuels and broader decarbonisation strategies for the sector.
