Bureau Veritas classifies Excelerate Energy’s new 170,000-cbm FSRU Excelerate Acadia


Vessel built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries features dual-fuel engines and proprietary regasification system.

Bureau Veritas has provided classification and certification services for Excelerate Energy’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Excelerate Acadia, which has now been named at a ceremony attended by representatives of the owner, builder and classification society.

The vessel, which has a storage capacity of 170,000 cbm, was built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, Republic of Korea.

According to Bureau Veritas, the FSRU is fitted with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ proprietary LNG regasification system, dual-fuel diesel-electric engines and selective catalytic reduction technology aimed at reducing emissions and improving operational efficiency.

Executives and representatives from Excelerate Energy, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Bureau Veritas, and other partners took part in the naming ceremony to mark the project's completion.

Excelerate Acadia joins Excelerate Energy’s expanding global FSRU fleet, which supports LNG infrastructure and energy security in different markets.

Bureau Veritas said it was involved throughout the construction process, providing classification and certification services in line with safety, quality and environmental standards.

The classification society added that it remains committed to supporting the development of LNG infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions.
