PetroChina International is strengthening its physical bunker supply presence in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region with the recruitment of a bunker trader based in Rotterdam.
The role, recently advertised on LinkedIn, is focused on trading conventional marine fuels including very-low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), ultra-low-sulphur fuel oil (ULSFO) and high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), alongside biofuels, as the company looks to grow market share across northern Europe.
According to the job posting, PetroChina International aims to become, within 18 months, a "top-tier supplier by market share" in the ARA region. The company claims to have storage and blending capacity in the region and says it launched physical supply operations there recently.
The Chinese energy trader states it plans to "significantly increase" the percentage of non-conventional fuels in its total traded volume by 2026. The company's alternative fuels portfolio includes ISCC-certified biofuels and LNG.
The Rotterdam-based trader will be responsible for developing sales strategies, expanding relationships with shipowners, charterers and intermediaries, monitoring market trends and competitor activity, and coordinating physical fuel deliveries. Risk management linked to price volatility and credit exposure also forms part of the role.
PetroChina International operates within the broader PetroChina group and has logistics and trading operations spanning China, Singapore, Houston, Lavera and the Middle East, leveraging integrated supply across refining and global distribution.
Candidates are expected to bring proven bunker trading experience, ideally within the ARA market, along with an established industry network. Professional-level Dutch language capability is listed as a strong advantage.
The company is also investing in trading technology and electronic bunker delivery notes to improve operational efficiency and transparency across its marine fuels business.
The position is offered on a full-time, office-based basis in Rotterdam, with a remuneration package linked to experience and including pension provision, health insurance, allowances and performance-related bonus incentives.
