Wärtsilä has signed a 10-year lifecycle agreement with MOL Global Ship Management to provide operational support and maintenance services for 12 LNG carriers.

The agreement, which covers vessels delivered during 2024 and 2025, is designed to reduce engine downtime and increase maintenance flexibility for the Singapore-based ship management company, which is fully owned by Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL). Wärtsilä booked the agreement for three of the vessels in Q3 2025, with the remaining vessels booked in the first half of 2025.

"Wärtsilä's lifecycle agreement will optimise our vessel operations and maintenance, ensuring that we can maximise uptime and performance. In addition, this agreement will play a crucial role in supporting the sustainable operations of our fleet by helping us reduce emissions and operate more efficiently," commented Namit Mathur, director at MOL Global Ship Management.

Under the agreement, MOL Global Ship Management will receive access to Wärtsilä's Dynamic Maintenance Planning solution, alongside 24/7 remote operational support and proactive contract management. The services are intended to enable flexible maintenance scheduling, extended service intervals, and lower spare parts consumption.

The agreement also includes Wärtsilä's Expert Insight predictive maintenance solution, which uses real-time vessel data to identify potential issues before they affect operations. The technology is designed to minimise downtime and avoid unforeseen repairs.

"Lifecycle agreements provide shipowners, like MOL, with operational reliability, cost predictability, and optimised maintenance. These benefits support consistently high service standards and enable fulfilment of customer commitments, while also contributing to reduced operational emissions in line with the industry's decarbonisation goals," said Henrik Wilhelms, director of agreement sales at Wärtsilä Marine.

Each of the 12 vessels operates with two 6-cylinder and two 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines and four Wärtsilä gas valve units. Catalysators are fitted to reduce emission levels.
