French shipping line CMA CGM has taken delivery of CMA CGM Mercury, the fifth vessel in its 13,000 TEU dual-fuel methanol series.

The containership was delivered in Mokpo, South Korea, as part of a 12-ship rollout programme. The vessel is capable of using green methanol as an alternative fuel.

The company said the newbuild represents part of its energy transition strategy, describing it as offering "a scalable alternative-fuel option that cuts emissions per box and keeps flexibility across trades."

CMA CGM Mercury, commanded by Captain Dmytro Dbrokhotov, joins four other vessels already delivered in the series, with seven more ships expected to follow as part of the programme.

CMA CGM has been expanding its alternative fuel fleet in recent years, with investments in both methanol and LNG-powered vessels as part of its decarbonisation efforts.
