UK marine fuel duty up from today


New duty rates for bunker fuel imposed by HM Revenue & Customs.



Marine fuel duty will go up in the UK from today, following Chancellor Alistair Darling's recently announced Pre-budget Report which included new duty rates on hydrocarbon oils.

As of 1st December, HM Revenue & Customs has said duty on heavy oil will jump 2 pence per litre (ppl) from 50.35ppl to 52.35ppl.

On 1st April 2009, tax levels will be raised again by 1.84 ppl to 54.19 ppl.

Meanwhile, duty on fuel oil will be increased by 0.37 ppl on 1st December from 9.29 ppl to 9.66 ppl. This will later go up again on 1st April 2009 to 10.00 ppl.
