Brightoil pleased with second place

Chairman 'delighted' that Brightoil was ranked the second-largest bunker supplier in Singapore last year.

Brightoil Petroleum (Holdings) Limited says it is pleased to have been listed as the second-largest supplier of bunker fuel by volume in Singapore in 2011. The group leapt to second place from 34th in 2010, according to data released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Brightoil set up a regional office in Singapore in 2010 to provide logistical support for the expansion of its marine bunkering business and to enhance its competitiveness. In financial year 2011, the group recorded bunker sales of more than 8.9 million tonnes, generating revenue of HK$39.45 billion. Turnover generated from Singapore alone reached HK$29.78 billion, representing 75 percent of the group’s total revenue.

Commenting on the results, Dr. Sit Kwong Lam, Chairman & President of the Group, said, "We are delighted to achieve remarkable growth in our bunkering business in 2011, which demonstrates the merits of our comprehensive system of procurement, sales and customer relations. Brightoil has gradually established a stable customer base as well as goodwill and a strong reputation within the industry.

"Looking ahead, we will continue to execute our growth strategy by expanding our global network and the scale of our International Supply and Bunkering (ISB) business for more robust future growth so as to become one of the leading global energy conglomerates in the world."
