Lukoil signs marine lubricant deal

Russian supplier in agreement to deliver marine lubricants to 80 vessels.

SCF Group and Lukoil have signed an agreement for the delivery of marine lubricating oil to Sovcomflot's fleet of vessels.

The agreement covers the delivery of system oil, marine cylinder oil, trunk piston engine oil and around ten other types of oil to 80 SCF vessels. The deal was signed for a two year period, with an option for an additional year.

In 2008 Sovcomflot became the first company to test Lukoil's lubricants, using them in the systems of several SCF ships. After the tests - which lasted for more than a year - were successfully completed, the companies agreed to develop their cooperation and expand the volumes of Lukoil Navigo oil deliveries to SCF Group's fleet of ships.

The selection of Lukoil's lubricants was the result of a tender, held in accordance with the procedures adopted by Sovcomflot technical managers SCF Unicom and OAO Novoship. There were six suppliers participating in the tender.

SCF Group specializes in petroleum products and liquefied gas transportation. The fleet includes 156 vessels with a total deadweight of approximately 12 million tonnes. The company is registered in St. Petersburg with offices in Moscow, Novorossiysk, Murmansk, Vladivostok, London, Limassol, Madrid and Singapore.

The group has a wide range of vessels operating in the market segments most demanded by major Russian oil and gas companies.

"With its own technical development and unique approach to advanced technologies, Sovcomflot has the ability to meet the most demanding customer requirements, providing effective transportation for oil and gas companies," the company said in a statement.
