Aquametro: Positive response at SMM


Swiss firm says it received 'significant' interest for its fuel-related products at this month's SMM event.



Aquametro AG says that it received a positive response during this month's Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology International Trade Fair (SMM Exhibition) in Hamburg, held on September 7-10 2010.

The Switzerland-based firm, which had a stand at the annual maritime event, commented that it received a 'huge stream of visitors', from which a significant number were interested in finding out more about its products and solutions.

Amongst the products displayed at SMM, was the CONTOIL® CFM-T, a cost-effective real-time system to monitor and log fuel consumption of all engines onboard work boats running on diesel. The product also monitors tank levels and fuel in and out during refuelling.

Another feature of the CFM-T is its ability to produce automated reports as well as trip and average data screens.

Diesel Switch MKII

Another product featured at Aquametro's stand in Hamburg was the Diesel Switch MKII, which is equipped with a 3-way blending valve and adjusts the fuel ratio of heavy fuel oil (HFO) and marine diesel oil (MDO)/marine gas oil (MGO) in relation to a set value, which is controlled by a logic controller.

The product includes manual and pneumatic valves, temperature and pressure sensors and the logic controller with touch screen display, which controls the switch over process.

Aquametro says that the logic controller regulates even and permissible temperature changes (i.e. MAN less than 2°C/min.); controls and monitors the fuel temperature in relation to viscosity and controls the lowest permissible viscosity. Furthermore, during the blending procedure it is said to guarantee that valid limits of sulphur content will be adjusted, controlled and stored in a special history file.

A special feature of Diesel Switch MKII is a compatibility check for both fuel qualities prior to any blending or change over operation.

Diesel Switch MKII is said to be simple to install - for both newbuilds and retrofits - and easy to handle. Each complete mounted unit is also tested before installation.
