CMA CGM ship boasts bunker features

Containership includes fuel-saving injection engine, protected bunker tanks and Fast Oil Recovery System.

CMA CGM Group, the world’s third largest container shipping company, has taken delivery of the CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci in South Korea.

The 13,830 TEU vessel was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and is the second of a series of eight vessels named after famous explorers.

The new-generation vessel is equipped with the latest environmental technologies, including:

* An electronic injection engine, which significantly reduces bunker fuel and oil consumption, while enabling the ship to operate at ecospeed, thereby reducing carbon emissions.

* Double-hull protected bunker tanks.

* A Fast Oil Recovery System, an innovative process for preventing marine pollution.

The CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci will be deployed on the FAL 5 (French Asia Line) service on the Asia-Europe trade, one of the world’s largest container shipping markets.

The vessel will start its rotation in Ningbo on July 31st and then onto Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang, Le Havre, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Klang, Singapore and Ningbo.

CMA CGM offers 14 services between Asia and Europe. The Asia-Europe market is the third largest market in the world and is reported to have registered a growth of 22 percent since the beginning of the year.

“Thanks to its size and equipment, this modern and competitive vessel, which completes the Group’s fleet, enables CMA CGM to meet the steady customer demand in this key market”, said Nicolas Sartini, Senior Vice President Asia / Europe Lines, CMA CGM Group.
