OW Bunker strengthens Swiss operations

Leading bunker firm appoints Sales Manager at its office in Geneva.

OW Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has today announced the appointment of Søren Vernersen as Sales Manager at its office in Geneva.

OW Bunker said the appointment is designed to capitalize on the opportunities in the region, strengthen the company’s operations, as well as grow, develop and provide more value to the company's existing Swiss customer base.

Søren Vernersen will take responsibility for driving the trading arm of the Swiss operation, in conjunction with the rest of the purchasing and trading team in the region.

OW Bunker said it believes there is real opportunity for further growth and development in the Swiss market, particularly Geneva, which is one of Europe’s leading trading hubs for the oil and derivative industries.

OW Bunker Switzerland was established in 2005. As well as providing local customers with access to all grades of quality fuel oil, OW Bunker Switzerland also houses the group’s centralised purchasing desk for the ARA (Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp) region, where global and local customers have access to a team of experts on the ARA physical and paper market providing information on local market knowledge and issues, as well as offering the group’s global sales teams specific information on focussed pricing strategies.

Commenting on the appointment, Kristian Nielsen, Manager of OW Bunker’s World Wide Trading division, said: “The Swiss market is full of opportunity, which we are determined to capitalize on. It is vital that we get closer to our customers and provide them with real value and access to quality products, quickly and at competitive and market leading prices.

"Our knowledge of the region, our flexibility, as well as our understanding of the complexities of the market sets us aside, and provides us with the foundation to build strong relationships with our customers that are based on understanding their business and operations in order to develop the most appropriate fuel procurement strategies. I am confident that Søren will be a real asset to the team, and will utilise his experience to grow our market share within the region."
