BIX price average up 4.4 percent in April


Average monthly global bunker price increases by $24.99 per tonne in April.



The average monthly Bunker Index (BIX) price rose by 4.4 percent during the month of April compared to the previous month, according to latest Bunker Index price data.

The BIX global monthly average increased by $24.99 to $591.67 per tonne in April, up from $566.68 per tonne the previous month.

The average monthly bunker price has increased in nine of the last twelve months, with the largest percentage rise being recorded in June 2009, when the BIX jumped 15.5 percent, or $65.07, to $485.18 per tonne.

During this 12-month period, the average monthly global bunker price has only fallen in February 2010 (-3.3 percent), December 2009 (-1.2 percent) and July 2009 (-0.5 percent).
