Bunkers International supplies MGO in Malta

US firm announces joint venture partnership to begin supplying marine gasoil in Malta.

Leading independent marine fuel supplier Bunkers International Corp. has announced that, in collaboration with its joint venture partner Bunker Supplies Malta Ltd.(BSM), it will be offering marine gasoil products to the Malta bunker market with deliveries in Valletta, Marsaxlokk, and offshore Malta.

The two companies have already begun operations and are now taking enquiries through all Bunkers International offices globally.

“We are very excited about this expansion of our company into a strategically important bunkering location like Malta,” said John Canal, President of Bunkers International.

“With our excellent partners in Malta, we can deliver high-quality gasoil products and superior service and support that meet the needs of our customers calling on Malta from the container, cruise, and specialized services markets.

"We have successfully operated a similar joint venture in Colombia South America for the last 12 years and currently are the largest bunker supplier in the Colombia market, a success we hope to repeat in Malta with BSM," Canal added.

BSM is run by Mr. Frank Sammut, who brings over 25 years of experience working for Malta’s state-owned bunkering company, and who helped pioneer the 55,000 mt MOBC storage Terminal in Valletta.

“We are very optimistic about this new venture,” said Frank Sammut, CEO of Bunker Supplies Malta Ltd. “Combining our supply expertise and knowledge of the local market and Bunkers International’s global footprint will result in a high-quality product being delivered to our mutual customers.”

All products sold by Bunkers International in Malta will meet all ISO DMA designated specifications.

Deliveries will be carried out by truck and via a dedicated marine gasoil barge, MV Bunkertank 1. The vessel has a 1,050 tonne capacity and a pumping rate of approximately 120 cubic metres per hour.

Customers with enquiries for any ports in Malta are requested to contact Bunkers International UK Ltd at +44 1492 873503, or the company's headquarters in Orlando, Florida at +1 407 328 7757, as well as any of the company's other sales offices worldwide.

Bunkers International has been expanding operations globally since 2000, creating new operations in Colombia, the UK, Singapore, Turkey, New York, South Africa, and Malta.

The company has significantly increased its trading division, helping drive a seven-fold increase in revenue in the past five years.

"With strong capitalization, a global customer base of thousands of ship operators, and supply operations on both coasts of Colombia South America, Bunkers International is well positioned to serve the global bunkering marketplace," Bunkers International said in a statement.
