Chilean bunker supplier Compañía de Petróleos de Chile (Copec) S.A. reports that it will carry out deliveries for nominations already confirmed after the port of Valparaiso was reopened on February 28th following the country's recent earthquake.

In a message to customers, COPEC said all confirmed deliveries would be would be carried out, conditions permitting and subject to approval from the Maritime Port Authority.

According to the Valparaiso Port Authority, operations are approaching normality with the port currently operating at around 90 percent of its total capacity.

In its last statement, the port authority said seven ships had been serviced since Valparaiso was reopened and that four vessels were berthed.

According to the port authority, Valparaiso is currently operating five berthing locations (berths 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8), whilst the remaining three are currently undergoing a technical evaluation in order to determine which of the berths would be able to continue operating and any repair work that would be required to be carried out.

However, according to local supplier COPEC, three berths are now open with a fourth due to open later today. Vessels are said to be at anchorage waiting to be berthed.

COPEC said that San Antonio port reopened yesterday and that vessels were at anchorage waiting to be berthed.

Other ports located south of Valparaiso, including Lirquen, San Vicente, Coronel and Talcahuano - located near to Concepción, the country's worst affected city - were said to be closed until further notice.

Further south, at the port of Punta Arenas, bunker deliveries are said to be possible as the port is open and experiencing no operational difficulties.
