Singapore 380-cst average rises 5% less than WTI in October


Statistical comparison between Singapore 380-cst and WTI from January to October 2009.



Please find below a statistical comparison of price fluctuations for 380-centistoke (cst) in Singapore and WTI crude oil.

The data shows that whilst the WTI settlement price rose by 8.7 percent during the month of October from 70.82 per barrel on October 1 to 77.00 per barrel on October 30, the Singapore 380-cst price increased by 8.3 percent from $422 per tonne on October 1 to $457 per tonne on the month's last day of business.

However, an analysis of average monthly WTI settlement prices and 380-cst in Singapore shows that whilst the average monthly WTI settlement price rose by 8.4 percent last month to 75.82 per barrel from 69.47 per barrel in September, Singapore 380-cst increased by only 3.4 percent from $426.2 per tonne to $440.0 per tonne.

In a comparison between WTI and Singapore 380-cst since the beginning of the year, the WTI price rose 66.2% between January 2 and October 30, whilst Singapore 380-cst increased by 92 percent during the same period.

However in a monthly average comparison, Singapore 380-cst rose by 70.1 percent between January and October from $257.5 to $440.0 per tonne, whilst WTI increased by 80.9 percent from $41.92 to $75.82 per barrel.
