Bominflot ups delivery capacity in Gibraltar

Supplier charters new barge in Gibraltar. Further expansion planned for the Eastern Mediterranean.

Bominflot (Gibraltar) Ltd. has announced that it has chartered a new barge, the Ruth Theresa, for bunker deliveries in the port of Gibraltar.

The vessel was built in 2008 and has a maximum capacity of around 8,800 metric tonnes (mt) with a pumping rate of 500 cubic metres per hour (cbm/h).

Together with the company's own barge, the Europa Supplier 1, (6,200 mts, 400 cbm/h) Bominflot says it is now well equipped to provide for its customers's needs in Gibraltar. The company has also secured a new two-year charter for floating storage.

Bominflot said a full range of high- and low-sulphur fuels and distillates are available. All other grades can also be provided using existing blending facilities.

"Herewith Bominflot expands and consolidates its physical supplies and strengthens its position not only in Gibraltar, but also in the Mediterranean and globally. It is a further consequent step in implementing our worldwide Group Strategy," Bominflot said in a statement.

With physical bunker locations in Las Palmas, Gibraltar, Ceuta and Genoa, Bominflot is already one of the leading physical suppliers in the Mediterranean. "Further physical expansions particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean will be announced soon," the company said.
