MGO average jumps almost $12/mt in North West Europe


NWE MGO Index records significant increase as prices rise by over $10/mt in a number of ports.



The average price of marine gasoil (MGO) jumped $11.80 per tonne in North West Europe today as prices rose in ports across the region for all major fuel grades.

The NWE MGO Index (ABP) - Bunker Index's average bunker price (ABP) for ports in North West Europe (NWE) - increased by between $12 and $20 per tonne in Antwerp, Copenhagen, Falmouth, Gothenburg, Great Belt, Hamburg, Kaliningrad, Riga, Rotterdam and St. Petersburg. As a result, the average MGO price for the region rose to $504.80 from $493.00 per tonne the previous day.

Meanwhile, the NWE Bunker Index (ABP) - the average price for all grades at all ports in North West Europe - rose by $6.93 to $402.76 per tonne as all four grade categories recorded average price increases of over $6.40 per tonne.

The NWE IFO 380 Index (ABP) was $6.50 higher at $346.27 per tonne today as the price of 380-centistoke(cst) rose by $6-$8 per tonne in Klaipeda, Falmouth and Gdansk, and by $13-$14 per tonne in Antwerp, Rotterdam and Kaliningrad.

The price of 180-cst increased by between $10 and $16 in Riga, Antwerp, Kaliningrad and Rotterdam as the NWE IFO 180 Index (ABP) recorded a $6.46 rise to $364.15 per tonne.

A more significant price rise was recorded for the NWE MDO Index (ABP) today, as the price increased by $8.55 to $458.00 per tonne, with Gdansk, Antwerp, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Great Belt and Rotterdam recording a rise of between $10 and $17 per tonne.
