OW Copenhagen appoints brokering manager

New brokering accounts manager appointed as part of global sales strategy.

OW Bunker Copenhagen, part of the OW Bunker network of companies, has appointed a new brokering accounts manager as part of its global sales strategy.

New appointment Julie Mailind has been given the role of Accounts Manager as part of OW Bunker Copenhagen's strategy to drive broking sales.

The company joined the OW Bunker Group of companies after undergoing a name change from MARAG A/S to OW Bunker Copenhagen in December 2008.

MARAG, part of the Wrist Group for twenty years, had always retained its independent status as a broker and trader within the bunker market. The company was established in 1893 and acquired by the Wrist Group in 1987.

The appointment of Mailind appears to be a clear sign that OW Bunker Copenhagen plans to continue to focus heavily on bunker broking sales.

On March 1st, Søren Christian Meyer was appointed as the new Branch Manager of OW Bunker Copenhagen and Per Larsen appointed Sales Manager.

OW Bunker said earlier this year that Meyer would be responsible for the implementation of the European sales and marketing strategy in Copenhagen with a focus on four specific areas.

This included the handling of tenders issued from European governments and international organizations, as well as strategic account management for European brokers.

His focus will also be on establishing a South American sales and purchasing centre, which will include a strategic partnership with OW Bunker Chile.

Meyer has also been tasked with capitalising on the growth of the rapidly expanding offshore industry in Europe, a market where OW Bunker has a real in depth knowledge and experience in providing physical supplies.

The current OW Bunker Copenhagen team consists of nine people, with plans to recruit further over the next few months for new business areas.
