Fujairah bunker conference opens


Marine fuels hub hosts the Sixth International Fujairah Bunkering & Fuel Oil Forum.



Fujairah's premier marine fuels conference, the Sixth international Fujairah Bunkering and Fuel Oil Forum (Fujcon), opens today in the Middle East's key bunkering hub.

Key executives and senior policy makers from the global marine fuels industry will be in attendance as the three-day event kicks off to examine key bunker market perspectives and industry developmnents around the region.

Entitled Fujcon 2009: Global Bunkering Markets: Reaching New Horizons, the sixth international Fujairah Bunkering and Fuel Oil Forum will cover a number of topics including Fujairah’s future, a market & pricing review, new storage, low sulphur fuels and new environmental initiatives.

Approximately 200 delegates from 20 countries are expected to attend the event, which is held every two years under the auspices of the Government of Fujairah.

Event organizer is Sinagpore-based Conference Connection Inc., which is responsible for a number of petroleum-related events including the annual Middle East Petroleum and Gas Conference, which will be held from April 19 to 21 in Dubai.

Prior to today's opening, two two-day courses were also organized to coincide with Fujcon 2009. The first, Successful Strategies for Handling and Avoiding Bunkering Disputes, began on 21st March, whilst the second Crude to Bunkers: An Overview of the Market/Regulatory Outlook, Pricing, Quality & Blending Applications commenced on 22nd March and is scheduled to finish on the day of the opening reception.
