Montevideo IFO prices set to rise on 22 Feb


Price levels for IFO 380 and IFO 180 expected to increase by $25/mt.

Market sources have informed Bunker Index that prices for IFO products in Montevideo, Uruguay, are expected to increase by $25 per metric tonne from this Sunday.

However, prices for distillates - ie marine diesel oil (MDO) and marine gasoil (MGO) - are expected to remain unchanged, sources said.

Please find below the expected price changes for Montevideo, which are set to come into effect on 22nd February 2009. Prices are in USD per metric tonne.

Montevideo:

IFO 380: $300.00

IFO 180: $340.00

MDO: $555.00

MGO: $575.00

Distillate prices are currently below those being quoted in neghbouring Argentinian port Buenos Aires, which has traditionally been able to offer intermediate fuel oil and gasoil at below Montevideo levels.

Meanwhile, IFO 380 prices in Montevideo are also competitive versus Buenos Aires with levels at only $4 per metric tonne above those being quoted in Argentina's capital city.

This has resulted in an increase in demand in Montevideo in recent weeks, with ship operators also being attracted by the fast turnaround times for lifting bunkers there.
