New storage capacity for Tallinn

After a construction period of only 1 year, has commissioned 200,000 cubic meters (cbm) of new storage capacity at its Termoil terminal facility in Tallinn.

The commissioning of the latest tank brings the total storage capacity of the Vopak E.O.S. terminal facilities to 951,000 cbm.

Commenting on the news, Arnout Lugtmeijer, chairman of the board of Vopak E.O.S said "We are very pleased with the tremendous work delivered by all the contractors and our terminal management and staff in delivering these new tanks within such a short time frame.

"There is a strong demand for storage of oil products and we were able to satisfy our customers’ requirements with ideal timing."

Vopak EOS, a joint venture between Royal Vopak (Vopak) and N-Trans, owner of Pakterminal and Estonian Oil Service (EOS) was established in April 2008. N-Trans has a 65 percent shareholding in the company, whilst Vopak has a 35 percent share.

N-Trans and Vopak decided to join forces to make more efficient use of the combined available terminal assets in the region. The port of Tallinn is a strategic location for the global export of oil products from Russia to the rest of the world.

The combined terminal facilities of 74 tanks are able to store both light and heavy oil products combined with rail connections and deep water berths facilitating vessels of all sizes.

Vopak EOS said last year that it expected to transship over 15 million tonnes of light and heavy oil products in 2008, making it the largest terminal facility in the Baltics.
