Maxum Petroleum extends bunker delivery capacity with largest barge to date

The Global Pilot joins the company's other four barges currently servicing the US West Coast.

California-based bunker supplier Maxum Petroleum has announced the introduction of a new delivery barge to its fleet.

The double-hull tank barge Global Pilot measures 219 feet long and 54 feet wide and is the largest in Maxum's fleet of marine fuel and lubricant delivery vessels.

The Global Pilot has a marine gas oil (MGO) capacity of 15,000 barrels (bbls), or 630,000 US gallons (US gal), in eight tanks; and a lubricant capacity of 14,000 US gal (333 bbls) in deck-mounted ISO tanks, with four segregations of 3,500 US gal (83 bbls) each.

Additionally, Maxum says the lubricant capacity can "easily" be increased to 80,000 US gal (1,905 bbls) by utilizing additional MGO tanks.

The vessel is said to have a maximum lubricant pumping rate of 130 gallons per minute.

The Global Pilot joins Maxum's fleet of four 10,000-bbl-capacity, double-hull barges currently servicing the US West Coast.
