Kiel Canal authorities restarted lock operations at Brunsbüttel at 18:30 hrs local time and are also restarting operations at Kiel-Holtenau, meaning that vessels are allowed to enter from the Baltic Sea. The traffic flow will be controlled to avoid accumulation inside the Kiel Canal as only one big lock is in operation at Brunsbüttel.
Next high water will be at 04:44 hrs tomorrow morning. High water levels are still expected, consequently the next halt in operations could be tonight prior to the high water period and until water levels fall. This will be decided during the night-time. Wind speeds are currently decreasing and forecast tonight at Bft 7 and tomorrow morning at Bft 6. Source: Sartori & Berger.
